I can do it.

People be proud of me please.
Tonight I performed with Miriam and my sister Mackenna for BYU's songwriters showcase. ME. Did you get that? Cailey Gallacher (more like Kate Gallagher -- they spelled my name wrong on the program) actually sang in front of 80 + people!
I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it--and I did.
Pat on the back to myself. :)

100th Post

This is my 100th post. Huzzah!

Twas the day of the 100th post for my blog,
And I sat on my couch eating cupcakes like a hog.
My schoolwork was spread out all over the floor,
Just studying away-- oh what a bore!

I started to think of off topic things,
of holidays and such and what christmas brings.
Service and cooking and singing with friends
laughing and sledding and my new short hair split ends.

When all of a sudden I realized, My blog!!
Its the 100th post and I've got to write a monologue!
Away to my laptop I moved in a flash
but got distracted and took out my trash.

The weather outside was blistering cold
and I quickly recalled my blog was still untold!
With a little skip and a hop here and there
I made it back inside with a shouting declare:

I'll write this post if its the last thing I do
so I sat down again and began anew.
Now tsk tsk my hands went all over the keyboard
as fast as my little fingers could afford!

My thoughts got all mangled and I couldn't express
the feelings I had and I started to stress.
All my words came out wrong; all the sentences blurry
Like a crazy old lady all up in a flurry!

And then in a moment I knew what to write
and my thoughts kept on coming all through the night!
I am so grateful I excitedly began,
for family, friends, and Heavenly Father' great plan.

I realized right what my 100th post would be
a post full of gratitude, a thankful decree
As I finished my musings for this, my 100th post
I realized what I wanted the most.
I want all you bloggers to live life in delight
Happy 100th post and have a good night!

What the...

My dream last night was on the breach of being epic. It goes as follows:
F.B.I. is corrupt- they are searching for secret documents that are hidden in my old run down victorian house. I just got back to my house from a trip to Italy (it was like five minutes from my house) and I come to find that my house is surrounded by the FBI. I know that my friend (Katie Cassidy) has just been killed and she hid secret documents, which I later find out are hidden in the corner of the room up in the roof-beam area. The FBI agent who is pretending to be good (Benjamin Bratt) has my house surrounded. Of course I know he is bad (somehow I just know) and my brother (Dan Byrd) and I are trying to escape with the documents to give to the "right people". I don't know how I know who and why they are the right people but it just is that way in dreams. Eventually I remember some calculation from some scientific doctor that has this theory about escaping through kitchen floors under the house. So automatically when I remember this I see a hole in the kitchen just big enough for me to crawl down into. But I don't have the documents because FBI agent is in the room where they reside. He knows it is somewhere in the house but i am the only one who coincidently knows where the documents are hidden and naturally I don't tell him. As I am trying to get down through the hole in the kitchen floor and escape from under the house my alarm clock wakes me up for Monday morning class.
BUT WAIT A SECOND. Did I make it? Was I able to get the documents to "the people" and expose all of the FBI? Could I have been the next Jack Bauer?

Darn you Alarm clock.

"Chu ladies are great"

Morgan Anderson and Lily DuRose are 2 of my most favorite ladies to ever live. Why? Let me tell you why! Because they both have adapted and adopted the weird high voice/lisp/surfer/ strange duck-woodstock voice that has evolved over time from all of us hanging out/living together. Friday and Saturday night was spent studying together and laughing our heads off. We did have time to sneak to the mall for some fun shopping. Lily bought a footsie-onesie for Mo to wear. It is pretty amazing and she wore it all night. Lil and I tried to watch Princess Bride but failed because the DVD was so scratched. Even though we were disappointed I have not laughed so hard.

Update on weather here in Provo: SNOW. I was severely disappointed when I woke up to the snow storm going on. Especially because I had to walk up to campus to take a test. boo. Snow please go away till after Thanksgiving. Thank you very much.

Metaphorically speaking

Last night I could not sleep. Something was on my mind. As I laid in my comfy, warm, cozy bed I was thinking about expectations that all of us have for our lives. I started to wonder, as I often do, about why expectations are such a complete let down. Because of my wasteful wonderings I came up with this metaphor that made complete sense.
Metaphorically speaking:
Our hearts and brains work as intelligence and emotion bound up in an endless realm of possible expectations. When a new expectation (love, school, idea, dream) enters our life we have to start examining this new piece. Somehow you must figure out how you fit it into your heart (life). You consider this as a thought and emotion. You rearrange parts of your heart to create an opening for this new expectation. You have spent time now finding a way to fit this new opening in your life and heart and when you do, you expect it to be filled. However, when this expectation fails you now are left with an unavoidable void. You suddenly realize you have just spent time figuring out how to create room and now when you have the room there is nothing able to fill it anymore. So what can you do? You cannot close this void-- you can only proceed to fill it with something new. Something unrelated to what is was before. A new expectation... big enough to fill the void and keep it full. If you let it empty you are quickly reminded that the once expectation was denied a viable space. You fill the void daily until what you do to fill it becomes habit. For the rest of your life you are filling it with something new. Luckily our heart and mind work together to create a feeling of stability and you forget the void, with only occasional small glimpses of a realm of what could have been.

This is what I realized: I have many expectations and many voids, but life is good and in time things will work out for the best. As I finished my thought I was able to finally drift off to sleep...

Gossip Girl Provo Style

Today has been an interesting day to say the least. May I explain how funny it has been?
First off my life has been inadvertently brought into an episode of Gossip Girl Provo style. It is ridiculous really. For some reason girls who do not even know me have stalked me in the library, stalked me on Facebook, and required lots of information about me through various people. I think it's weird. Someone told me that they must be in love with me... and that could very well be true, but I am pretty sure they just have nothing better to do. I can't give too many details but let me say how hilarious the situation is. I was merely sitting in the library when this chick walks in and stares me down. Little did I know what she was up to. I only knew she was the new gf of a guy I started dating a while back. I had my dear friend Christian do some investigation work and he over heard her on the phone later referring back to me when she said, "Ya, I just saw her. She is at the table." hahaha Oh people... Live your own life. Stop stalking me and enjoy who you are dating in peace. I could not care less!! Also have I mentioned how awesome my room mates are? They are so great! Morgan and Lily rock my world! Yes we went to Cafe Rio and stuffed our faces, headed over to a waffle party-- did all the dishes. Lily sprayed water constantly all over my face, Morgan almost broke the plates she washed, I burned my hand on the waffle cooker yet we all laughed the whole time. These girls are great. They have to be if they can make washing dishes so entertaining. I love you guys!

Weather, China, and reminiscing.

Sometimes It is hard to give up something that was really good in your life. However close you get to that something, you can never quite get it back. What makes it appear so close, yet unreachable? And once it is gone, can you replace it? What I have learned is to protect my heart from this but keep my mind open so that I can think reasonable about it. We cannot control what this something thinks, does, or behaves, but I know I can choose to accept it for its faults and hold on to the thought of old possibility.
The other day I had a great chat with a friend about dreams. I have been running lately and as we were talking about that he mentioned that there is a marathon in china every May. On the great wall!!! Immediately I knew this was something that would kick me into gear and start training. Can you imagine how amazing that would be!? oh so amazing!

And, might I just add how great the weather has been this whole week? I don't think I have ever encountered better weather in November. Sun, thank you for shining down on us and letting your warmth brighten us up!

A November disappointment.

Dear J.Crew,
HOW did you go so wrong? What is happening with your style? What in the WORLD were you thinking when you decided to put nylon socks with high heels. The catalog you sent out for November was such a disappointment... about cried. Please rethink this disaster before December!

Little Blessings

LITTLE BLESSINGS
Little blessings are given to me throughout the day. I don't know why I am lucky enough to receive them, but I am sure glad they are present. I like to think of these little blessings as tiny boosters throughout the day. They are like spiritual vitamins. Most of the time they come in forms of tiny words or phrases, such as "hello", or "So good to see you". Other times they sneak into the form of a smile, or even a hug.
Yes, little blessings, thank you for reminding me that Life is great. I can only hope the little blessings will find me and help me be somebody's little blessing, and return the favor.

Saturday

SATURDAYS.
Have you ever just really had a great friday night, and the next morning you wake up smiling? It makes Saturday even better. The sun is shining, the air is crisp, and you meet up with 2 great girls to go run in the canyon, full of gorgeous fall leaves. And to top it off later that evening you have an Ingrid Michaelson concert to attend.
Oh, it is a perfect Saturday.

Random happenings/ Thoughts

The Avenues #330 is a special place. Three weeks ago I could not have imagined how significant a place it has turned out to be. Of course half of the reason it is so great is the fact that I have amazing roommates + one, and because of them the whole apartment has become a humble abode, a sanctuary of dreams, thoughts, discussions, laughter, tears, eating, crazy nights, great music, singing around the piano, and making goals. One place we quickly discovered about the apartment was the roof that we coincidentally have all to our selves. Our loft window has a ledge where we carefully crawl out and end up on top of the world… well Provo. It is there that we discovered our goals and dreams, and there we reunite every 2 weeks to discuss how we have done with our goals. Sometimes we lie down on old blankets, above all of Provo just listening. Those nights are the best. We listen to the wind, the faded sounds of cars, and sprinklers running, stare at the moon, and gaze up at the clouds, just listening. It is on those nights that I have chance to regroup my thoughts and come back down a different person—or at least a determination to be a better version of “me”. Us girls have a theme song that we play whenever we are up there. It is by the Perishers called “come out of the shade”. I have no idea why it came to be our goal setting, thought provoking, daydreaming song, yet as we play I could not think of a better one to have. The song has become a beacon for us, and a reminder of our goals we have made. It represents hope, a brighter future, opportunity, love, friendship, and memories.  The conversations held on the roof are the best. One has a chance to dig deep into their own thoughts and has all the time to express them in ways of eloquence and charm. I don’t think I have heard anything but beautiful dreams, and imaginative futuristic subjects up there.  (of course we slide more towards a little on the goofy side when we invite the guys up there). I haven’t been this determined to be the “cailey” I know I can be until now. My roof is my safe haven. It knows my thoughts, and fears, joys and tears. Thank goodness for roofs, and roommates that share the same enthusiasm as I do.

“Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them.” I love this quote. One of my goals I made was to have a good attitude about any situation I am in. I thoroughly succeeded one night when we went to our Stake Dance (which was so EFY-ish) and all of us girls wanted to leave. But we decided to just dance, and have fun and in about 5 minutes we could not stop laughing, and dancing for the next 2 ½ hours. It was Amazing.

Another goal of mine is to look for good qualities others have and try to emulate them. I feel overwhelmed as I have seen so many good qualities, but one that I admire most right now is in a friend of mine who is so brilliant at talking to others and making all those around them feel important. This person will come over and talk to my roommates, and anyone else who is there completely and genuinely interested. I love that about this person. Thank you for being this way. You make me want to be better.

P.s. It is raining a lot right now… and I love it.

p.p.s Have I told you how much I love Soy chocolate milk? well I do. It truly is fabulous.

Madison

(click on the above sentence to watch the video)

Why and How

Things I do not understand:
1. Why I am never fast enough to smash the annoying Mosquitos in Madison's room.
2. How Madison can make me laugh at the exact same thing over, and over till I have tears.
3. How Britt and I never ran out of things to talk about on the phone everyday in July even while I was in the Target dressing room, and her checking the mail.
4. Why Brigham and Stephen laugh at the joke in UP.
5. Why I love french music.
6. How Louisa May Alcott came up with Little Women.
7. Why I all of a sudden find Dennis Quaid one of the most handsomest men alive... when I used to despise him
8. Why I am excited to paint the condo.
9. How it has already been a YEAR since I left for Italy.
10. How my mom convinced me to love the card game Rummy.
11. Why I love Trent Mcfadyens Hula Dance
12. How Brandon Doyle could be so funny while singing Phantom of the Opera.

Desperate. Ancient. Touchy-Feely. Sappy.

The subject of my thought today stems from the amount of thinking I have done this past week. It would be impossible for me to trace back to the amount of random thoughts I have had that lead up to what I am about to explain. So I won't. But I would like to explain some things. Winnie the Pooh got it right when he said, "Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?" I can relate. And I will relate to you what I relate to.

I think. And As I think I become so caught up in what I am thinking about that I forget to realize that it is just a thought, until I think the thought was so realistic that it was not just a thought I "thinked" but an action of that thought. NOW when this thought is confused with an action, I am brought back to thinking about how this thought came to be, until I am lost in a stupor of thought while I am thinking!

and after all this confusion I realize that my thoughts end in a smile, for I am happy as a kid on the Fourth of July. ( That is a whole LOT of happiness).

I played Apples to Apples tonight... and the four words I won were the ones that happen to be the subject on this post. Sadly some are true... and happily some aren't. I started to think, (as I often do) what if my life had to be summed up in 4 words. What would they be?

And I have come to a conclusion:
Happy. Religious. Confident. Pure.

As I reflected on this thought, I realized that to have this I must ACT and find ways to bring this to pass. And so I take the motto: See no Evil. Hear no Evil. Speak no Evil in hopes that I might begin this new journey. I also ask you who read this to remind me whenever I may forget to live this way.

Have you followed This train of thought?
"Some people get lost in thought because it's such unfamiliar territory" -Behn
I dare you to explore more of your own thoughts so the unfamiliar will become a familiar thinking spot. Consider all the possibilities of thoughts you may have!

quick update---

Hello, I say to my blog, and fellow readers (not that there are any... but I like to think so.)
Can I just say that SPRING in Provo is great! What a difference it is from fall/winter. People are friendly, nice, talkative, relaxed, happy, and did I mention Friendly? It is almost so great, that I makes me want to do school in Spring/Summer from now in. My tennis class is going good. I love it, and try to do well... not succeeding in that category yet, but I am improving. I also love my other classes which makes me excited to get up every morning at 7 to run to tennis, and off to my other classes following. Memorial weekend was a blast. Mackenna and I went to Downtown Salt Lake and got a room at the Marriott. We just needed to reward ourselves by going away from Provo and bond as sisters. We went to Temple Square, watched Madagascar 2 (hilarious), enjoyed Starbucks Vivanno banana-chocolate smoothie, Hogle Zoo, and Siegfried German deli (mmm). Twas a fabulous weekend. I hope you all had a great one too!
By the way, I am in a floral design class and if anyone knows of anyone who needs help for weddings, parties, other occasions I am your gal. I can do most all arrangements now, and I really enjoy it. Ever need help- I'm there. More to come later-
